The Council of Governors (CoG) on Saturday visited the grave of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi, Bondo, Siaya County, to pay their respects to a man widely hailed as the Father of Devolution.

Led by area Governor James Orengo, the governors laid a wreath at Raila’s grave and paid respect to Kenya’s Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, Mama Mary, and Raila’s late son Fidel.

“Thank you to the Council of Governors for coming together to pay your last respects to our departed leader at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi. The Father of Devolution, Baba, must surely be smiling where he rests,” Orengo said.

Several leaders have been paying their last respects since October 20.

Raila passed away on October 15, 2025, while undergoing treatment in India at the age of 80.

His body was received in Nairobi from India to emotional scenes, as thousands of mourners poured into the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and Uhuru Park to pay their final respects.

He was laid to rest on October 19, 2025, at his ancestral home in Bondo, with full military honours and attended by President William Ruto, his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta, former Nigerian President Oluṣẹgun Ọbasanjọ, and other leaders.
