

The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a weather forecast for the week of October 14 -20, 2025, predicting rainfall across several regions of the country.
The weatherman told Kenyans to expect showers in the Central Highlands, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Coast, and parts of Western, North-western, and North-eastern.
Counties likely to experience rainfall include Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West-Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, and Narok.
Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected over a few places during the first half of the forecast period, increasing to several places thereafter.
Nights are expected to be partly cloudy, though showers may occur in a few places.
Temperature-wise, the Met said daytime highs exceeding 30°C are anticipated over the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western regions, making these areas relatively hot during the day.
Conversely, cooler night-time temperatures below 10°C are expected in parts of the Central Highlands, Central Rift Valley, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro, signaling chilly nights in these zones.
Most regions in eastern, coastal, and northern Kenya will remain hot and dry. Daytime temperatures are expected to soar past 30°C.
The South-eastern lowlands (Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita-Taveta Counties, as well as the inland parts of Tana-River County): Sunny intervals are expected during the day, while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.
The Coast (Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale Counties, as well as the coastal parts of Tana River County): Sunny intervals are expected during the day, while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.
Reflecting on the previous week from October 6-12, the
department said rainfall was recorded in several counties, including Kiambu,
Nyeri, Kisii, Murang’a, and Kakamega.
Notably, Gakoe Tea Estate in Kiambu County recorded the highest 24-hour rainfall of 67.0 mm on October 7.
Mandera Meteorological Station reported the highest daily maximum temperature at 38.3°C on October 9, while Nyahururu Meteorological Station recorded the lowest daily minimum temperature of 5.0°C on October 11.
Daytime (maximum) temperatures decreased in much of the country, with only a few stations, such as Suba, Kisumu, and Lodwar, recording slight increases.
Additionally, Kenya Met noted that night-time (minimum) temperatures increased in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, the Coast, the Southeastern lowlands, and North-western Kenya, and decreased in the rest of the country.
