
Both the assailant and deceased were grazing livestock in Kanadap, Nasinyono, Nanam wards, police said.
The teenager is
aged 14. Police said the incident was reported on Sunday, October 12, 2025. Some
herders in the area are as young as ten and are armed.
Witnesses said
the two had argued before the 14-year-old one shot the ten-year-old in the
chest, killing him.
The assailant
was later arrested by his uncle, who took him to the Lokichogio police station.
Police said
they are interrogating the said assailant for further action.
Police were
making efforts to recover the weapon used in the fatal attack.
Elsewhere in Njoro, Nakuru
County, seven men were arrested for murder and cattle rustling.
They were also found with 20 cows
that had earlier on October 6, 2025, been reported stolen from Ndeffo village. During
the attack, one man was killed, police said.
Police were later informed where
the cows were in Teret village of Mauche, where they recovered them with two bows
and a sword.
The suspects are under interrogation
pending arraignment on October 13, 2025, police said.
The Turkana area is
under an operation to, among other things, disarm the residents who are armed with illegal
weapons.
The area is among those under Operation Maliza Uhalifu aimed at dealing with bandits. The operation has managed to contain crime in the area and other counties amid persistence. The operation targets Baringo, West Pokot, Turkana, Samburu, Marsabit, Meru, and Isiolo counties.

He also announced a new policy shift, which institutionalizes the command structure of the NPR officers, stating they will hence be under the direct command of the Officer Commanding Police Stations (OCS) as part of efforts to enhance their operations.
