Police have arrested three suspects in two separate operations in Nairobi and Murang’a counties, as part of ongoing efforts to combat crime and drug trafficking.
In Nairobi, two suspects were arrested on Friday, October 10, after officers from Kamukunji police station conducted a targeted operation within the Ziwani area.
The duo was found in possession of 64 rolls of cannabis. According to the National Police Service (NPS), the suspects were taken into custody and are awaiting processing and arraignment.
“The exhibits have been secured as evidence as we continue to intensify the fight against narcotics,” the NPS said in a statement.
The service commended the officers involved for their dedication, urging the public to support law enforcement through the timely sharing of information.
In a separate incident in Murang’a county, police arrested a suspect believed to be behind a series of motorcycle thefts in Ithanga/Kakuzi subcounty and surrounding areas.
The suspect was apprehended following a coordinated operation involving officers from Ithanga police station and Rubiru police post.
The operation followed a series of reports of a surge in motorcycle theft in the area.
Police said the suspect led officers to a site where a dismantled motorcycle and several parts were recovered.
A follow-up search in his residences uncovered additional suspected stolen items, including electronics and assorted motorcycle parts.
“The suspect is in custody and will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete,” the police said in a statement.
The NPS lauded the Murang’a officers for their diligence and quick action, which led to the recovery of stolen property.
Police have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through the toll-free hotlines.
“We encourage members of the public to share intelligence on drug peddling or other criminal activities by calling 999, 911, 112, or through #FichuaKwaDCI on 0800 722 203 or WhatsApp 0709 570 000."
Meanwhile, a multi-agency security team recovered 19 goats in the Nakuprat area of Ngaremara location, Isiolo county.
The goats had been reported stolen from the Akongolo area in Igembe Central subcounty.
Officers handed them over to their owner after he positively identified them.
In a statement Friday evening, police said the recovery was made on Thursday, coinciding with the recovery of approximately 30 kilograms of cannabis sativa in Bungoma following an intelligence-led operation conducted Thursday morning.
The National Police Service said that it remains steadfast in combating banditry and other illegal activities in the country, as it confirmed that efforts to apprehend the individuals connected with the theft of the goats were ongoing.
Regarding the Bungoma case, two male suspects aged 25 and 28 were arrested at the scene and escorted to Bungoma police station, where they are being held in custody pending arraignment at Bungoma Law Courts on Monday.
