President William Ruto on Friday paid a visit to the late former President Daniel Arap Moi’s mausoleum at the family’s Kabarak home in Nakuru County.
The Head of State laid a wreath at the mausoleum before holding a meeting with Moi’s son, KANU chairman Gideon Moi.
A mausoleum is a specially constructed building that houses a tomb, often built to honour and preserve the memory of a prominent individual.
Ruto was received at the Kabarak residence by Gideon and other members, marking a symbolic gesture amid ongoing political realignments between his United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the independent party KANU.
The visit comes a day after Gideon Moi announced his withdrawal from the Baringo Senate race, a move that has stirred speculation about his next political direction and possible cooperation with President Ruto’s ruling camp.
The independence party leader hosted over 3,000 members and supporters in a major political gathering.

Photos and videos showing former Gideon Moi at State House, Nairobi, in a meeting with President William Ruto started circulating on Thursday, October 9.
The meeting, reportedly held on Wednesday and made public on Thursday evening, sparked discussion over whether political matters were on the agenda, as Moi considers a possible return to active politics.
Moi’s potential re-entry into politics has reignited debate over his future and that of Kanu, with observers interpreting the move as a possible attempt to rebuild his influence after losing the 2022 General Election to the late William Cheptumo.
