Media personality and entertainer Oga Obinna has announced the immediate suspension of all personal, one-on-one assistance to individuals seeking help.

This he said while citing persistent online defamation and malicious attacks from social media users.

In a statement released by Obinna TV Studios on Thursday, the entertainer said the decision was driven by “Persistent defamation by online bloggers and social media users who have weaponised acts of kindness for views, likes and engagement.”

According to the statement, Obinna’s genuine efforts to support those in need have been met with fabricated stories, malicious trolling, and profound ingratitude that seeks to destroy rather than appreciate.

The move marks a significant shift in how Obinna will handle charitable work going forward.

While the Obinna TV Studios’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes and the Obinna TV Foundation will continue operating as usual, all personal interventions outside these structures have been halted indefinitely.

The statement emphasised that," Obinna is not God, capable of helping everyone or obligated to respond to every request for assistance.”

“Oga Obinna will no longer yield to blackmail, manipulation, or public pressure to give and is not responsible for individual life circumstances beyond his voluntary help,” the statement emphasised.

Obinna called on the public to understand that whatever is meant to happen in someone’s life will manifest with or without his intervention.

He added that he is simply an instrument, not the source of anyone’s breakthrough or success.

The announcement makes a clear distinction between Obinna the person and the Oga Obinna brand.

“Steve (the individual) retains personal autonomy in his private decisions. This statement addresses the Oga Obinna brand exclusively,” the notice explained.

Despite the suspension, Obinna assured the public that his professional and structured charitable activities remain active.

“Obinna TV Studios CSR programmes are ongoing as scheduled,” the statement read.

It also reaffirmed that Obinna TV Foundation, the channel for structured charitable work, will continue to operate.

However, the entertainer will no longer offer personal or direct financial aid to individuals, nor respond to unsolicited requests for help.

One-on-one charitable interventions outside the foundation have also been suspended.

In a strongly worded legal warning, the statement noted that, “Individuals, bloggers, and content creators publishing unwarranted, unverified, or defamatory remarks will face legal action.”

It further added that documentation is underway, and accountability will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law.

Obinna said he and his team have tolerated baseless accusations long enough while signalling a tougher stance on misinformation surrounding his charitable work.

The statement closed with a biblical reference from the Gospel of Mark, underscoring the decision’s finality and moral conviction: “If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell.”
