Tragedy struck a village when a woman was slashed to death as she tried to separate her husband and son, who were fighting in Ntimaru, Migori County.

Police said Christine Mokami, 40, died on the spot after being hacked in the head by her husband.

The husband is said to have returned home late on Saturday, October 4, 2025, and picked up a quarrel with his son.

This turned physical, and when the mother tried to intervene, she was hit in the head multiple times.

The son escaped with a cut on the left hand and was treated and discharged from hospital.

The woman bled and died in the house before the body was taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations, police said.

The assailant escaped the scene after the fatal attack, police added. The hunt for the suspect is ongoing.

Police want the suspect to surrender for action.

Elsewhere in Kipotoni, Lungalunga, Kwale County, a 70-year-old man was found dead after an attack by unknown assailants.

This is the latest such incident targeting the elderly in the area, amid fears among locals in Kwale and Kilifi counties.

Police said Tsuma Mwijo was attacked by assailants as he sat on a plastic chair at his sister’s home.

Unknown assailants confronted him on Saturday evening, cutting him in the back of the neck. He died on the spot, police said.

The motive of the attack was not immediately known, police said, as they moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Police said they are investigating the incident and many others so far reported in the area, amid pressure for action to stop the trend.

Locals are linking the attacks to cultural beliefs and greed for land by those behind them.

In the Kiwanjani area, Isiolo Town, a teenage girl was electrocuted in an incident.

Police said the 15-year-old girl was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital.

It was established that a motorcycle rider had connected the motorcycle to a power supply for security reasons when the girl, unaware of the danger it posed, touched it.

The girl was electrocuted, collapsed, and died on the spot before she was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police said they are investigating the incident.

These three incidents, reported across different counties within days, have raised concerns about domestic violence, insecurity, and negligence.

Authorities are calling on communities to resolve disputes peacefully and remain vigilant as investigations continue.
