A man slashed his girlfriend to death in a village in Kogony, Kisumu County,
police said.
The incident happened on Saturday, September 27,
2025, at night in a house where the deceased, identified as Emily Otieno, 24,
was with friends. The friends escaped unhurt.
The assailant, who is the boyfriend of the
woman, escaped the scene soon after the fatal attack.
The deceased, according to the police, had
visited a friend in the company of three friends when the boyfriend, who had
trailed them, struck.
He was armed with a panga, witnesses and police
said.
The man slashed Emily in the neck, killing her
instantly, as the other people who were in the house scampered for safety.
Those in the house were not aware they were being trailed for the fatal attack.
Police were called to the scene and established
that the woman had been slashed on the back of her neck.
It was established that the man and woman had
domestic differences, which angered the assailant to trail and kill her, police
said, citing preliminary findings.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an
autopsy and investigations.
Police said they were pursuing the assailant,
identified as Victor, for questioning.
This is the latest such incident linked to a
love triangle in the area, amid efforts to resolve others reported in the past,
police said.
In Bondo, Siaya County’s Barkowino village, a
woman killed her husband in a domestic fight.
The body of Felix Nyagola, 50, was found
leaning on a wall in a rented house after a fight. The body had injuries on the
head, shoulder, and limbs, police said.
The woman, who was later arrested, is said to
have used a broom in the attack.
It is not clear what triggered the quarrel
that turned confrontational and later fatal.
The body was moved to a local mortuary pending
an autopsy following the Saturday tragedy.
The woman was expected in court to face
various charges, including murder, police said.
Elsewhere in Musengo, Kitui County’s Kakumuti
area, one Mutemi Katila, 60, was found murdered, his body abandoned near a
bridge.
The body was found with a deep cut on the
right side of the neck, suspected to have been inflicted using a sharp object.
The motive of the murder was not immediately
known, police said. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and
investigations.
And a man was lynched by a mob in a failed
robbery incident in Ruai, Nairobi.
The victim was said to be among a group of
four that was attacking and robbing locals when an alarm was raised. This
alerted a mob that attacked and killed him.
Police said the man was later identified as a
tout working in the area.
Locals had complained of persistent attacks by
gangs who target their mobile phones and cash early in the morning and late in
the evening.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an
autopsy and other investigations.
Police discourage mob lynching and want
suspects to be surrendered to authorities for processing.
