The High Court is today set to deliver its final verdict in the appeal filed by former Samburu Governor Moses Kasaine Lenolkulal and his co-appellant Hezbon Jack Wachira Ndathi.

The duo is challenging their conviction and sentence in the sh84m graft case.

Lenolkulal and Ndathi were found guilty of corruption and convicted in August 2024 by the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court on multiple counts, including unlawful acquisition of public property and conflict of interest.

This was in connection with a fuel supply contract between Samburu County and Oryx Service Station.

The trial court found that Lenolkulal had a direct private interest in the contract while holding public office.

It imposed a fine of approximately Sh84.5 million on the ex-governor or, in default, an 8-year jail term.

Lenolkulal was also barred from holding public office for 10 years.

Dissatisfied with the ruling, the duo filed an appeal, challenging their conviction.

The court granted them a bond of Sh10 million each pending the determination of their appeal.

Justice Benjamin Mwikya is scheduled to deliver a judgment in the matter.
