The government has finalised plans to repatriate the body of a Kenyan police officer who tragically died in a road accident in Haiti late last month.
In a statement, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja confirmed Thursday that the body of Corporal Kennedy Mutuku will arrive in the country tomorrow, Friday.
“..The body of Corporal Kennedy Mutuku Nzuve is scheduled to arrive in Nairobi on September 26,2025,” a brief statement issued by IG through police spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga reads in part.
It will be received at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
No further details were provided regarding funeral arrangements.
Mutuku was part of the Kenya contingent serving under the Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission.
He died in an accident on August 31 along the Kenscoff-Pétion-Ville road, specifically in the Pèlerin 9 area, during a recovery operation involving two MaxxPro vehicles.
According to MSS spokesperson Jack Ombaka, the accident occurred when one MaxxPro vehicle, while towing the other, experienced mechanical failure that led to the crash. Civilians were also involved in the incident.
Tragically, two civilians lost their lives, and eight MSS officers sustained injuries. Of those injured, three were reported to be in critical condition.
The injured officers initially received treatment at Aspen Level 2 Hospital at the LSA 2 facility before some were airlifted to the Dominican Republic for specialised care.
Further details on the condition of the injured officers have not been released by the police.
