Former Chief Justice David Maraga is set to launch a move in a bid to add five million new voters on the register.
Dubbed the people’s #BallotRevolution campaign, will be launched in Mombasa on September 24, 2025.
Maraga said he will traverse all 47 counties and the diaspora to find new voters ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“We are pleased to launch the people’s #BallotRevolution campaign, which aims to add 5 million new voters to the voters register. The launch starts in County 001 (Mombasa) on 24 September,” he said in a statement on X.
“We shall traverse all 47 Counties plus the Diaspora! Your contribution to this voter registration campaign will be deeply appreciated!”
Maraga will on September 25 and 26 make a tour to Mombasa in a bid to hunt for new voters and drum up support for his presidential bid.
On September 25 at 4 pm, Maraga will meet student leaders at Tudor Water Sports.
The following day, September 26, he will hold two townhall engagements. The first will take place at 12 pm in Bangladesh, Jomvu, and the second at 3 pm in Changamwe.
The tour is part of the broader agenda under the slogan Reset, Restore, Rebuild.
Maraga said he made the decision after consultations with various people, including friends and other people.
He said that it is not right to allow people in leadership to allow the country to be in the poor state it is currently in.
"This has come as a result of what has been happening in the country. To see our young people being handled the way they have been handled is something that is extremely worrying," he said.
“After discussion with friends and others and after serious reflection I thought it is time we think about the leadership of this country. We can’t let some people literally throw our country to the dogs."
Maraga said his first priority would be to end the widespread impunity surrounding the theft of public funds.
