The hearing of the murder case involving former Harambee Stars and Gor Mahia player Collins Okoth, popularly known as “Gattuso,” begins today at the High Court in Nairobi.
Okoth and Silvia Aoko face charges related to the death of a three-year-old girl in Lucky Summer Estate, Ruaraka subcounty, in Nairobi, in an incident that allegedly occurred in April 2024.
Both were arraigned earlier this month and granted a Sh1 million bond each after Justice Alexander Muteti ruled that the prosecution had not provided sufficient reasons to deny them bail.
The prosecution had argued that the two might interfere with witnesses if released on bail or bond.
The pair has previously pleaded not guilty to the charges presented in court.
In his decision, the judge directed that they should not enter Lucky Summer, should not contact or interfere with any witnesses, and must deposit their passports (if any), provide details of their fixed places of abode, and obtain a letter from their local area chief before being released.
The bond conditions were designed to ensure they appear in court and protect the integrity of the trial.
Today’s session will see the hearing of the case begin.
