The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party of Raila Odinga will next month [October] mark two decades since its formation with grand celebrations being organised.

The three-day festivities, scheduled for October 10-12, 2025, will take place in the coastal city of Mombasa, a venue chosen for its rich history and symbolic role in Kenya’s democratic journey.

According to ODM Secretary General Senator Edwin Sifuna, the anniversary is more than just a celebration of the party’s longevity.

He stated that this will be a moment of reflection on the struggles, victories, and lessons that have shaped the party’s vision of a just, united, and prosperous Kenya.

The programme will feature a Youth Summit that brings together emerging leaders to chart the future, a Women's Convention recognising the role of women in Kenya’s democratic struggles, and a youth concert celebrating creativity and talent within the Orange Movement.

Sports enthusiasts will also be treated to a thrilling football tournament featuring four top teams, AFC Leopards, Bandari FC, Gor Mahia, and Shabana FC, symbolising unity through sport.

In the build-up to the main event, ODM has lined up activities across the country, with Migori and Wajir identified as major highlights to underscore the party’s inclusivity and grassroots connection.

“ODM has stood at the forefront of defending constitutionalism and people’s rights for two decades. This anniversary is a testament to the resilience of our members and the trust Kenyans have placed in us,” said Sifuna.

He added that the celebrations are open to party members, supporters, and all Kenyans of goodwill, urging them to join in marking the two-decade journey.

“As a party that has stood at the forefront of defending constitutionalism and people’s rights, we take pride in inviting our members, supporters and all Kenyans,” he said.

ODM is one of the most influential political parties currently.

It has played a central role in shaping the country’s democratic space since its formation in 2005.

The anniversary celebrations in Mombasa are expected to draw thousands of participants, setting the stage for the party’s next chapter.

Raila, among other party leaders, are also expected to attend the events.
