Matatu torched after boda rider killed in Luanda Town accident

 Chaos erupted in Luanda Town, Vihiga County, after a road accident left one person dead.

A bodaboda operator died on the spot after he was reportedly knocked by a 14-seater - matatu mid-morning Saturday.

The incident,  according to eyewitnesses, angered the public, who responded by torching the motor vehicle.

The incident happened along the Kisumu-Busia highway within Luanda Township.

Locals barricaded the highway and lit bonfires as they protested about the rider's death in a road accident.

A fire engine belonging to the County Government of Vihiga reportedly lost control and landed in a ditch following the melee as it was responding to the scene of the incident.

Authorities within the area are yet to comment on the incident
