Detectives have launched investigations into three separate deaths reported this week in Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kakamega County, as concerns grow over a recent spike in killings.
In Syokimau, near Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), a decomposed body was discovered in a thicket roughly 200 meters from a local hotel.
According to police, hotel security guards stumbled upon the remains on August 28 while inspecting rooftop water tanks.
The body, believed to be that of a man aged around 55, had no identification documents and appeared to have been dumped at the site more than a week earlier.
Authorities suspect the victim may have been killed elsewhere before being moved to the location.
The body was transferred to the morgue for autopsy and identification. Hotel management clarified that the remains were found on JKIA land, not within their premises.
Meanwhile, in Mombasa’s Jomvu area, police are investigating the death of a mechanic whose body was found inside a container at Simamu Garage.
The deceased, identified as 51-year-old Isaac Ndegwa, was discovered lying on a mattress Thursday night. The cause of death remains unclear, and his body has been taken to the morgue for further examination.
In a separate incident in Likuyani, Kakamega County, a woman was fatally stabbed in her home on Thursday night. Police said 40-year-old Matilda Nyambura suffered multiple stab wounds to the head and neck.
The murder weapon was recovered at the scene, and a man who claimed to have witnessed the attack has been detained for questioning. Investigators are still working to determine the motive behind the killing.
These cases come amid growing concern over rising murder rates across the country. Police say efforts are underway to solve the crimes and bring those responsible to justice.
