
Detectives are investigating the murder of an elderly couple
in their house in Chumvini, Taita Taveta County.
The bodies of Tito Musyoka, 82 and his wife Angela Thambi,
73 were found lying on their beds on August 28, 2025 long after their murder.
The motive of the murder was not immediately established,
police said.
The body of Musyoka had a deep cut in his throat and lay in a
pool of blood, while that of the wife also lay with a cut in the neck.
The woman had died in the house while the man was rushed to
the hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival, police said.
Police said they visited the scene and established that the
assailants had ransacked the house.
The couple was alone at the time of the murder, police said.
It is not clear what was stolen from the house after the
murder. Police said the intention of the attackers was to kill the two.
The bodies were moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and
further investigations.
No arrest had been made by Friday, and the motive was not yet
established.
The incident left the village in shock as police moved there
to solve the murder.
In Nyahururu, Laikipia County, the body of one George
Waititu, 40, was found lying in a ditch in Manguo Swamp after a suspected
murder.
Police said the body had multiple injuries to the head
inflicted by a blunt object.
The motive of the murder was not established on Thursday
when the body was found, police said as they moved it to the mortuary pending
an investigation.
Elsewhere in the Tarassa area, Tana River County, a man was
found murdered in Katsangani village.
The body of Harrison Masha Kalume, 40, was found lying in his
house with multiple deep cuts in the head, neck and both hands.
The motive of the murder was not immediately established,
police said as they moved the body to the mortuary.
Murder cases have been on the rise in the area and they have
been linked to land disputes.
