Detectives are investigating the murder of a seven-year-old girl whose body was found abandoned in a maize plantation in Saboti area, Trans Nzoia County.
The motive of the murder of the girl
is yet to be known. Police believe she was also defiled before being killed in
Sokomoko village.
The body found in a maize plantation near their house on August 27 evening.
The incident sparked anger in the
area with residents storming Saboti police station and attempted to set it on
fire.
Police said a mob stormed there
and attacked the station with stones and twigs damaging property.
Police reacted and fired teargas
canisters to disperse the angry mob.
They also fired more than 100 live
bullets, 200 blanks and 20 balls. Witnesses described the clash as dramatic
adding the station was badly damaged.
One police officer was hit by a
flying stone in the head and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
More personnel were sent to the area
to reinforce those under siege at the station in the drama that spread to late
in the night, police and witnesses said.
Police later managed to contain the
clashes and moved the body to the mortuary amid tension.
Detectives are investigating the murder. Senior police officers visited the scene and assured locals of justice in the murder.
In Mackinon area, Kwale County, a herdsman was
found murdered at a field and the body abandoned at the scene.
Police said the
incident happened in Busho area on August 27 and the assailants are yet to be
known.
Police said Adan Bodha Dido, 19 was found with a deep cut in the throat. His body was found in a thicket in the area.
The motive of the attack was not immediately known,
police said as they moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
In Rongai,
Nakuru County, a 46-year-old man was found murdered and his body abandoned on
the sofa set.
Police said the
body of Simon Mukuni was found in the house in Namba Nne area long after his
murder.
The man had
earlier on been brought to the house by his cousin who abandoned him on the
seat.
Police said
they are investigating murder in the incident and that the body was moved to
the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Murder cases are on the rise in the country amid efforts to contain the trend and solve them.
