Tragedy struck Konjora village in Kilifi County after a 35-year-old man died in a fall from a palm tree on Saturday afternoon.
According to police, Farisa Fahan Fondo had climbed the tree around midday to tap palm wine when he slipped and fell, dying instantly. His body was discovered lying under the tree hours later.
A jerrican and knife he had been using in his work were found beside him.
Police described the case as an accident, noting that palm wine tapping is a skill usually reserved for experienced climbers in the region. The body was taken to the mortuary for an autopsy and further investigations.
In Nairobi, another family was left in grief after a man was fatally hit by a passenger train on Saturday evening.
The incident occurred in the Pipeline area when the Nairobi-Embakasi train struck 47-year-old Suma Ndavi.
Police said he was walking along the railway line and failed to notice the approaching train. His body was later moved to the mortuary pending postmortem examination.
Meanwhile, in Nyeri County, police are investigating a violent robbery in which a construction site manager was stabbed and robbed of Sh270,000.
The attack took place in Chaka on Saturday afternoon as the victim left a construction site carrying cash.
According to police, two assailants who appeared to have prior knowledge of the money confronted him a few meters from the site.
He was stabbed in the chest while trying to fight them off before they fled with the cash. The manager was rushed to the hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition as officers continue a manhunt for the attackers.
And in Rachuonyo, Homa Bay County, two gold handlers were ambushed and robbed of Sh180,000 and gold worth Sh200,000 in a daring attack.
Witnesses said the robbers fired three shots into the air to scare away members of the public who had gathered during the commotion before fleeing with the loot.
No injuries were reported, and police said a hunt for the suspects is ongoing.
