Ruto appoints Amani Yuda Komora as NPSC Chairperson

The President also appointed Angeline Yiamiton Siparo a member of the Commission.

President William Ruto has appointed Amani Yuda Komora as the new Chairperson of the National Police Service Commission (NPSC).

Komora will serve as the police Commission boss for a period of six years.

“I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Amani Yuda Komora to be the Chairperson of the National Police Service Commission, for a term of six (6) years,” reads a Gazette Notice dated August 22, 2025.

The appointment of Komora comes at a time when the commission is under increasing pressure to reform police welfare and strengthen accountability within the service.

Ruto also gazetted the appointment of Yiamiton Siparo as a member of the Commission.

“I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Angeline Yiamiton Siparo to be a Member of the National Police Service Commission, for a term of six (6) years.”

Their appointments follow successful vetting and recommendation by the Selection Panel appointed to recruit nominees for appointment as Chairperson and Members of the National Police Service Commission (NPSC), as published vide Kenya Gazette Notice No. 1181.

Dr. Komora, the immediate former Vice-Chairperson of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC), previously served as the General Manager of Human Resource and Administration at the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), Assistant Commissioner for Human Resources at the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), and was a member of the National General Wages Council.

Siparo has been the coordinator of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Legacy Localisation Project across 49 countries and the Chairperson of the National Aids Control Council (2016-2022).

She previously worked at Oxford HR (AU/Africa CDC), Catholic Medical Mission Board (CMMB), Population Reference Bureau (PRB), UNAIDS, Futures Group International, and Family Health International (PHI).

The NPSC is mandated to oversee recruitment, transfers, promotions, and discipline within the National Police Service.
