The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has announced the postponement of its grassroots elections in parts of Homa Bay County.

In a notice dated August 18, the party’s National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC) said the elections in East Kamagak Ward and Kasipul Constituency will not take place as earlier planned.

The elections had been scheduled for Wednesday, August 20, 2025, and Thursday, August 21, 2025.

They now stand postponed until further notice. ODM said fresh dates will be communicated later.

“Fresh dates shall be duly communicated in due course. Members in the affected electoral areas are advised to remain patient and await the official communication on the rescheduled timelines,” said NECC chairperson Emily Awita.

The postponement comes a day after the Orange party announced that countywide delegates elections will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025.

According to the National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC), the exercise will take place at designated polling centers across the country.

It said eligible delegates of the party branches, as published on the ODM Party website, can apply for any county office positions.

The Committee, however, stated that four counties Migori, Nairobi, Homa Bay and Kisumu will not take part in the elections.

“The National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC) will conduct countrywide County Delegates elections, except for the counties of Migori, Nairobi, Homa Bay and Kisumu,” the Chairperson of the Committee, Emily Awita said.

The Orange Party began its grassroots elections in April, following successful polling unit elections conducted on November 27, 2024.

The National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC) said the sub-branch (Ward) elections will take place on Monday, April 7.

The exercise will be carried out at designated centres across the 47 counties.

A total of 77 party officials were elected at the sub-branch and branch levels across four committees.

The committees include mainstream, women’s league, youth league and disability league.
