The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) has unveiled a series of events to welcome party leader Rigathi Gachagua back to the country following his political trip to the United States.
In a statement released Monday, DCP Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala called on Kenyans to converge at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Thursday at 8 a.m. to receive Gachagua upon his arrival.
“We call on the people of Kenya to show up at JKIA at 8 a.m. to receive our leader, Rigathi Gachagua,” said Malala.
“We confirm that we will, as a party and as the people of Kenya, gather in large numbers.”
Following his arrival, the party plans to lead what Malala described as the “mother of all peaceful processions” from JKIA to the Central Business District (CBD), culminating in a public rally at the symbolic Kamukunji Grounds.
“We shall have a mother of all peaceful processions from JKIA to CBD and later address a public rally at Kamukunji grounds,” Malala announced.
The party stated that police have been notified in advance to provide security for the day’s events.
Gachagua’s return comes earlier than scheduled.
He had initially planned to fly back on September 8, but the trip has been cut short to allow him to lead DCP's campaign efforts in the upcoming by-elections, particularly in Mbeere North, Embu County, which the party has identified as a top priority.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has slated several by-elections for November 27, 2025, including parliamentary contests in Banissa, Kasipul, Magarini, Malava, Ugunja, and a Senate seat in Baringo.
Gachagua, who has been in the U.S. on what he described as a political outreach tour, said he is returning to revive the Wantam Movement, which he claims is gaining traction across the country.
Posting on social media, Gachagua wrote, “It has been a very successful and fulfilling visit. I held serious engagements with Kenyans in the Diaspora, and I’m coming home energised.”
