Kenyans from across Nairobi thronged public viewing arenas on Sunday to watch the highly anticipated African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 clash between Kenya and Zambia.
The viewing zones, equipped with large screens and essential amenities, offered fans a lively and inclusive atmosphere to enjoy the match.

Among the designated venues were the National Archives, Uhuru Park, and Jacaranda Grounds.
These arenas have been set up as part of a wider initiative
to allow football enthusiasts to engage with the tournament, even if they
cannot access the official stadiums.
The National Archives area emerged as a major viewing hotspot, with over 500 spectators gathering to cheer on the national team.
The venue has been upgraded by City Hall to accommodate the growing crowds, featuring new paving, enhanced lighting, and adequate security to support evening matches.

City Hall officials confirmed that security personnel were deployed to all viewing zones to maintain order and ensure public safety throughout the game.
Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya earlier reiterated the government's commitment to making the tournament accessible to all Kenyans.
“We aim to create an atmosphere where football fans from every background can be part of CHAN 2024, even if they are not in the main venues in Kasarani, Nyayo, or our partner cities in Uganda and Tanzania,” said Mvurya.

The CHAN 2024 tournament, currently being co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, has already generated widespread excitement across the region.
Sunday's match between Kenya and Zambia added to the buzz, drawing enthusiastic crowds in Nairobi and beyond.
Organisers said the viewing zones will remain open for the duration of the tournament, providing fans with safe and engaging spaces to follow the action and support the national team.
