Decomposed body of man found in parked lorry in Rongo, Migori

Guards were attracted by flies that had been pulled to the lorry by the rotting body.

Detectives are investigating the murder of a man whose decomposed body was found lying in the cabin of a lorry days after his murder in Rongo Town, Migori county.

The body had also been doused with acid before being abandoned at the scene on August 8.

It wasn’t until August 10 at about 3 pm that guards working at the Rongo Taxi Yard said they were disturbed by a foul smell from the lorry.

They were also attracted there by flies that had been pulled to the Mercedes-Benz lorry by the rotting body.

It was then that they raised an alarm. Police were called to the scene and broke into the lorry, where they discovered the body lying in the cabin behind the driver’s seat.

The body had burn scars on the face, stomach and left leg, suspected to be from acid dousing.

Witnesses said they saw the vehicle being parked at the scene hurriedly on Friday, August 8, night by two men who later disembarked and left.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.

The police also want to identify the body as part of the probe into the murder.

The motive of the murder is yet to be established, police said.

Elsewhere in Mwariki area, Nakuru County, a man was found murdered in Kwa Senior estate, police said of the Sunday August 10 incident.

Police said they found the body lying on the floor at a rented house whose door was open. The body had decomposed by the time it was discovered

A team that visited the scene said the body was lying in a pool of blood that was oozing out from body openings with visibly swollen private parts.

Neighbours said the deceased was working with a matatu sacco in the area and was last seen August 7 at his rented house doing laundry where he stayed alone.

According to police, they did not recover any identification documents from the house or deceased.

They found three mobile phones in the house as they moved the body to Nakuru Annex Funeral Home for preservation awaiting autopsy.

Police said they are pursuing good leads into the saga.
