Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho has dismissed the opposition’s criticism of President William Ruto, saying no leader in the outfit can match the Head of State’s performance and concern for Kenyans.

Speaking in Mombasa, Joho urged residents not to be misled by politicians seeking to incite them against the president and his administration.

“We have a president who understands us and takes care of us. Don’t be misled by people who want to incite you that he is bad. When you were there, why were you not a good person? Today, he wants to lie to you, people of Mombasa. We will tell our people the truth,” Joho said.

“Between William Ruto and all who are in the opposition, there is no comparison. Have you looked at them? Some have been there for 20 years, others 15 years, 10 years, 30 years and some two and a half years,” he noted.

He accused some opposition figures of attempting to sway coastal communities with false claims.

“Some will come to incite you that he is a bad person, but if he is bad to you, to us he is a good person,” Joho said.

Joho also highlighted government initiatives targeting the coastal region, citing the distribution of more than 127 fishing boats to local communities.

He said that while this was not possible under previous regimes, Kenya Kwanza has made it possible.

“No past president remembered the people of the Coast as William Ruto has. And yet you want to come here and incite the people,” he added.

The Mining CS had accompanied Deputy President Kithure Kindiki for an economic empowerment drive in Mombasa County.

They were joined by a host of other leaders from the Coast region and other parts of the country.
