A police officer was killed in a fight with a fellow police officer at an apartment over a woman in Kitengela Town, Kajiado County.
The incident happened on Thursday night.
Constable Manaseh Ithiru, who was attached to Kitengela police station, was thrown out of the fourth floor of an apartment where he was with a woman believed to be his girlfriend.
Ithiru had earlier, at about 7 pm, taken a bodaboda to the house of the woman, which is about three kilometres out of the town.
He was ushered in and rested with the woman for about three hours before someone knocked on the door.
On opening, it emerged that the guest was a fellow police officer, a sergeant attached to the local Critical Infrastructure Police Unit based at the Export Processing Zone in Athi River.
The guest is also the boyfriend of the same woman. He arrived without notice, neighbours said.
Ithiru had asked his rider to be on standby as he would call him to pick him back from his residence. That did not happen.
When the guest stormed into the house with the woman pleading for peace, a fight broke out between the deceased officer and the now assailant.
The fight moved to the balcony
where Ithiru was pushed down and fell off to the parking lot, and died.
His body was found in a pool of blood at the parking lot minutes after the fatal fall.
This happened as the woman screamed for help from the neighbours.
Police were called to the scene and announced the body had multiple injuries to the head and moved it to the mortuary pending autopsy.
The police sergeant and the woman were arrested pending investigations into the murder incident, police said.
A mob gathered at the scene as police processed it.
Elsewhere in Kenyenya, Kisii
County, a body was found on the roadside after a suspected murder.
The police said the partially
burnt body was found on the road in Mogambi village after it had been dumped
there hours earlier on Thursday.
Police said the body had visible
injuries on the limbs, which were burnt and back. His legs were tied at the time
the body was discovered, police said.
A blood-stained panga and open shoes were found next to the body, which was moved to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy.
