Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was on Monday hosted for a farewell dinner by Abagusii community leaders in Texas, USA, on his last day in the state.

Gachagua, through his X account, expressed gratitude to the Abagusii community residing in Texas for their hospitality and kindness in hosting him on behalf of the larger Abagusii community.

“Thank you so much for your hospitality and kindness to the leaders of the Abagusii community living and working in Texas,” Gachagua posted.

“We discussed the state of our nation, Kenya, and the journey to liberate our nation from dictatorship, state capture, economic mismanagement, and abuse of the rule of law,” he said.

The former DP has been traversing the United States to bolster his support in the run-up to the 2027 presidential elections.

He has interacted with selected American businesspeople and investors as part of a broader campaign to position the opposition as a viable alternative in the coming general election.

Gachagua is a key figure in the opposition coalition, which comprises Wiper Patriotic Front (formerly Wiper Party) leader Kalonzo Musyoka, People’s Liberation Party leader Martha Karua, and DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa.

Others include former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, former Attorney General and Public Service CS Justin Muturi, and former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi.

The former DP and his spouse, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, arrived in Texas three days ago for their meet-the-people-in-the-diaspora tour, where they were received in style upon their arrival in Dallas, Texas.

Since his arrival in the USA, he has visited Boston, Massachusetts, Maryland, and Seattle, where he has held several town hall meetings to promote his agenda for the diaspora community.
