Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has urged his allies to not give up after they were once again teargassed during their rally in Gilgil, Nakuru County, on Saturday.
In a statement after the incident, Gachagua who is on a month-long tour of the United States said that once they win the leadership of the country in 2027, all wrongs will be corrected.
He went on to state that together with his team, they will restore sanity to the governance of the country, insisting that despite the actions of the current administration against them, their resilience has only grown stronger.
The former DP commended his allies for doing a good job, adding that Kenyans are watching.
“Despite these cowardly actions by this failed regime, our resilience and commitment have shone brighter than ever.
“To our team, it is always darkest before dawn. We will rewrite the wrongs and restore sanity to governance. Keep up the good work. Kenyans are ticking the box,” Gachagua said.
The former Deputy President also claimed that the fear of the unknown is gradually steering the country towards a dictatorial path, where suppression and intimidation are becoming a norm.
The team, led by Nyandarua Senator John Methu, has been traversing major towns across the Mt Kenya region to rally support for a united opposition front in Gachagua’s absence.
In a post on X, Methu claimed police “once again disrupted our peaceful meeting in Gilgil town.”
He shared several photos showing residents fleeing as security officers clung to politicians' vehicles during a chaotic, teargas-filled exit from the venue.
“You can teargas us all you want, but we shall not relent. #WanTam,” he added defiantly.
Methu and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka have kept the ‘WanTam’ campaign alive, declaring their resolve to block President William Ruto’s re-election bid.
Gachagua is currently in the US alongside former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, where they are holding town hall meetings with diaspora Kenyans as part of early efforts to build momentum ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
