In a public notice, the Eldoret-based facility stated that beginning August 1, 2025, each patient will be allowed a maximum of two visitors at any given time.
As part of the revised policy, visiting hours have also been streamlined to ensure controlled and orderly patient interaction.
The lunch period will open for one hour from 1 pm to 2 pm, while the evening period has been set for two hours from 4 pm to 6 pm.
According to the hospital management, the guidelines are meant to reduce congestion in wards and strengthen security checks.
“We urge all visitors to adhere to the above guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation," the hospital said in the notice.
The new policy is part of a broader national push to improve safety and security in public health facilities.
It comes in the wake of separate incidents where two patients were fatally attacked at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), sparking public outrage and raising urgent concerns over security lapses in public hospitals.
The latest is the one which happened on July 11, 2025, exposing serious security vulnerabilities in the referral hospitals.
This prompted the Ministry of Health to move swiftly in reviewing safety standards in national referral institutions.
Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale directed the immediate implementation of new access control measures.
These include mandatory CCTV surveillance in wards, restricted hours for non-clinical visitors and digital tracking systems during emergencies.
