Police in Narok on Thursday arrested three suspects and recovered several items suspected to have been stolen following a night patrol within the town's central business district.
According to a report by the National Police Service,
officers from Narok Police Station were on routine patrol around 1:15 am when
they spotted three individuals carrying what appeared to be heavy luggage under
suspicious circumstances.
"Upon stopping and searching them, officers discovered
that the suspects were in possession of a 6kg Pro Gas cylinder, a black
subwoofer, a 32-inch TV, a panga, and a metal rod," the statement
read in part.
The three were
immediately arrested and taken to Narok Police Station.
They are currently in custody pending arraignment in court.
Police further revealed that the suspects are repeat offenders.
“It was also noted that they have previous convictions for burglary
and housebreaking offences,” police added.
The suspects are expected to face charges related to the
possession of suspected stolen property and preparation to commit a felony.
The National Police Service reiterated its dedication to
maintaining public safety and ensuring criminals are brought to justice.
“The National Police Service remains committed to its
mission of providing effective, people-centric, and accountable policing
services for a safe and prosperous society,” the service said.
The latest arrests are part of a wider security crackdown by
the National Police Service aimed at curbing rising cases of burglary and theft
in urban centres.
In recent weeks, officers have intensified patrols,
especially at night, to deter criminal activity and protect lives and property.
The NPS has pledged sustained efforts to ensure public
safety and restore confidence in community policing.
The arrests come amid increased patrols in urban areas
following a surge in petty crime incidents reported in parts of the Rift Valley
region
