
Detectives are investigating an incident where the son of former Uriri Member of Parliament Haman Omamba was found murdered in Migori Town.
The body of Michael
Odhiambo Omamba, 30, was found on the roadside on Wednesday morning moments
after his murder.
Police said the
deceased had a deep stab wound on the right side of the chest, and the body lay
about 20 meters from his house.
The deceased had
earlier been seen in a bar in the area with a common friend.
The motive of the
murder is yet to be known, police said.
Police who attended
the scene said nothing was stolen from the slain man as his wallet and mobile
phone were found in his pocket.
Police suspect the
assailant had a mission to kill Michael.
The body was moved
to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.
His family is demanding answers following the killing.
He was also the brother to North Kanyamkago MCA George Omamba.
The family now wants authorities to investigate the incident and bring those responsible to book thoroughly
The incident comes as the family was already grappling with the
recent loss of Suslia Omamba, the first wife of the late MP.
According to a post by George Omamba, their mother passed away
on July 5 and is scheduled to be laid to rest on August 8.
Elsewhere in Piny,
Suna, Migori County, a man died in hospital after he had been assaulted in his
home.
Police said the
deceased, identified as Dominic Wasonga, 30, succumbed to the injuries after the incident
on Wednesday morning in Nyamilu village.
His body was found
lying in a pool of blood, and he was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on
arrival.
The body had stab wounds
in the head and left eye, police said.
The body was moved
to the mortuary pending autopsy and investigations. No arrest has been made so
far, police said on Thursday.
The motive of the murder is yet to be established, police said.
