
Principal Secretary for Public Health Mary Muthoni with Global Fund representative Paul MacCarrick during the meeting of reaffirmation to strengthen health systems on July 23 2025/Mary Muthoni/XKenya, the United Kingdom, and the Global Fund have renewed their joint commitment to strengthening health systems and accelerating the fight against HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria.
The pledge was made during a High-Level Meeting hosted by the Ministry of Health, where key stakeholders discussed strategies to expand access to health technologies, streamline supply chains for essential medicines, and improve service delivery, especially in underserved communities.
Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale led the Kenyan delegation, with Hon. Michael Payne representing the UK and Paul MacCarrick attending on behalf of the Global Fund.
The meeting highlighted the importance of collaborative action to tackle pressing health challenges in the region.
Kenya outlined significant achievements from the partnership, including sustained provision of medical supplies for HIV care, infrastructure support such as the restructuring of KEMSA, and growing public confidence in health services.
The government also reiterated its ongoing health sector reforms, such as the crackdown on unlicensed facilities, implementation of doctor authorisation codes, health digitisation efforts, and the proposed Quality of Care and Patient Safety Bill aimed at raising national healthcare standards.
Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni Muriuki emphasised the need for continued collaboration and innovation to ensure equitable healthcare access for all Kenyans.
