National Treasury announces 244 vacancies for senior economist/statistician
The positions offer a basic monthly salary ranging from Sh52,330 to Sh96,130.

The State Department for Economic
Planning under the National Treasury has announced 244 vacancies for the
position of Senior Economist/Statistician, CSG 8, Job Group ‘N’.
In an internal advertisement released
on Tuesday, the department said the positions offer a basic monthly salary
ranging from Sh52,330 to Sh96,130.
This will have additional allowances
including a house allowance of Sh35,000, a commuter allowance
of Sh8,000, and a leave allowance of Sh6,000 per year.
The terms of service are permanent
and pensionable.
Requirements for appointment
Applicants have served in the grade
of Economist/Statistician I for at least three years, hold a bachelor’s
degree in Economics, Statistics, Economics and Mathematics, Economics and
Finance, Economics and Statistics, or any equivalent qualification from a
recognised institution.
Applicants should also be members
of a relevant professional body, possess computer application skills
from a recognised institution and demonstrate merit and ability as
reflected in work performance and results.
Duties and responsibilities
Selected candidates will be
responsible for a broad range of policy, research and planning functions.
These include preparing sectoral
policy briefs, reviews and reports, initiating and participating in sectoral
planning, monitoring and evaluating the implementation of development policies,
programs, and projects, and disseminating national policies and strategies at
the community level.
They will also be expected to conduct
studies to inform economic development and address cross-cutting socioeconomic
issues, coordinate budget preparation and monitoring, evaluate and analyse
economic trends, and participate in development planning.
Other duties include developing
macroeconomic models and sub-sector forecasts for Medium Term Expenditure
Framework (MTEF), preparing reports on sectoral performance and national and
sector-specific progress, coordinating government and stakeholder surveys.

are required to complete the PSC 2 (Revised 2016) form, which is
available at the Public Service Commission website, www.publicservice.go.ke

between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Shortlisted candidates must produce
their ID, academic and professional certificates, and other
supporting documents during interviews.
