President William Ruto is among a host of national and regional leaders attending the consecration and installation of the new shepherd of the Africa Inland Church (AIC) Machakos Area, Bishop Benjamin Kalanzo.
The event is being held at the AIC Bomani Masaku Service grounds in a colourful ceremony presided over by AIC Presiding Bishop Abraham Mulwa.
Alongside Bishop Kalanzo, Amos Ndunda is also being installed as Assistant Bishop, following the retirement of long-serving Bishop Philip Muia.

The occasion has drawn several high-profile guests, including Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua, and Members of Parliament Mwengi Mutuse (Kibwezi West) and Vincent Musyoka (Mwala).

Ndeti recently hosted Bishop Kalanzo in her office and lauded the church for its ongoing efforts in nurturing moral values and community development.
“The meeting was a meaningful engagement that underscored the important role spiritual leaders continue to play in shaping and guiding society,” she said.

Ndeti further noted that it is "always a blessing to connect with faith leaders who are committed to the spiritual and social well-being of the people."
The installation marks a new chapter for AIC in the Machakos
region, with the faithful expressing optimism about the future under Kalanzo’s
leadership.
