Former KTN news anchor Lindah Oguttu is mourning the loss of her mother.

Oguttu made the announcement on her X account on Wednesday evening, paying tribute to her late mother with a heartfelt message.

"Mothers are divine. Rest in peace mum," she wrote, without divulging further details about her mother's passing.

The news of her mother's death triggered an outpouring of condolence messages from colleagues and friends in the media fraternity.

BBC's Ferdinand Omondi described the news as "gutting" and wished Lindah's mother eternal rest.

Citizen TV's Mashirima Kapombe offered his condolences, saying, "Pole sana my dear. May God give you and your family comfort during this very difficult time."

Other notable figures who sent condolence messages include former IEBC commissioner Roselyn Akombe and Tribeless Youth founder Shikoh Kihika.

Akombe wished Lindah God's comfort during the tough times, while Kihika offered hugs and prayed for God's comfort.

Lindah Oguttu is a well-known figure in Kenyan media, having anchored prime-time news at KTN for several years.

She took a sabbatical from her TV job in November 2021 after being appointed head of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) caretaker committee.

She later left the role, describing the experience as challenging but valuable.

"We are done. Wasn't easy but an experience I wouldn't change for anything. Great lessons," Ogutu said on October 27, 2022.

"A big thank you to all who tried to help."
