
A multi-agency security team has recovered 15 goats which had been stolen in Nakuru.
The operation conducted on Saturday led to the successful recovery of 15 goats stolen from Takaiwa area in Pokot North Sub-County.
The National Police Service said that upon receiving the livestock theft report, the security team quickly mobilised and launched a coordinated pursuit to recover the animals and arrest the perpetrators.
“After realising they were being tracked, the suspects abandoned the stolen goats at Kaakali Village in the Kalemngorok area,” NPS said in a statement.
The recovered animals were escorted to the GSU camp in Nakwamoru, where they await collection by the rightful owner.
NPS said investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the theft.
“The National Police Service remains committed to working closely with communities and other government agencies to combat banditry, cattle rustling, and other crimes,” NPS added.

The coordinated security operation led by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) at Doldol police station successfully recovered stolen livestock following a report of theft in the area.
The multi-agency team, comprising officers from NPS and other security units, launched a swift pursuit in response to the theft, which had raised alarm among local pastoralist communities.
During the operation near Ol-Kinyei Dam, officers encountered a group of armed bandits believed to be responsible for the livestock theft.
The security personnel engaged the suspects, who were overwhelmed and forced to abandon the stolen animals as they fled the scene.
Seven cows were recovered intact and subsequently escorted to Kiwanja Ndege Shopping Centre, where they were handed back to their rightful owner.
The recovery brought relief to the affected community.
The successful recovery comes amid intensified efforts by Kenyan security agencies to combat banditry, particularly in regions like Laikipia, which have experienced recurrent livestock raids and violent attacks.
Recent police actions include increased patrols, intelligence-led operations, and community policing initiatives aimed at dismantling bandit networks and restoring peace.
