Police are investigating
murder in an incident where the decomposed body of a woman was found in a maize
plantation in Matungulu area, Machakos County.
Workers on a farm said they
stumbled on the body covered with grass.
Police who visited the scene
said they suspect the woman was killed elsewhere and the body was dumped in the
farm on between July 7 and 8.
The body was moved to the
mortuary pending identification and autopsy.
Elsewhere, the naked body of a
juvenile girl was found lying about 500 meters from a police station in
Ruaraka, Nairobi.
The body had a blouse covering
the upper side only, police said.
Police said the girl is
believed to be aged between 17 and 18 and that a shoelace was tied around her
neck.
The deceased is believed to
have been murdered elsewhere and the body dumped at the scene.
The body was moved to the
mortuary pending autopsy and identification.
In Ganze, Kilifi County, a
57-year-old man was found murdered in his house in Mwenge village.
Police said the man was found
lying in a pool of blood with deep cuts on the forehead, shoulder and chopped
off fingers on both hands.
Witnesses said two men had
come into the house demanding to know the whereabouts of their cow. The
deceased was later attacked and killed at the scene.
In Malindi, one Karisa
Kishindo Gurumo, 75, was found murdered in his house.
Police said the body had
multiple injuries at the time it was discovered on July 7.
The bodies were moved to the
mortuary pending autopsy and investigations, police said.
In Yala, Siaya County, a body
was found at the local river in Ulumbu village.
The body was identified as
that of Veronica Odongo, 46 who had been missing.
The body was about 500 meters
away, where her belongings lay.
The body had visible injuries
on the forehead.
The motive of the murder was
not immediately known.
Police said the body was moved
to the mortuary pending autopsy.
Police have decried rising
cases of murder in the country. Up to eight murder cases are reported daily
amid efforts to contain the trend.
Some of the cases are pending
before courts while others are yet to be solved, police said.
