A 16-year-old girl was found murdered and her body left on the bed in a bizarre incident in Homa Bay’s Wagogo village.
Police said the suspected assailant died by suicide after the incident.
His body was found hanging on a sisal rope tied around the neck and on a roof truss.
It is suspected that the assailant, who was a worker at the home, killed the girl before dying by suicide on Monday, July 7.
The motive was not immediately established, police said.
The bodies were moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.
The incident left the village in shock amid a police probe into the motive.
Elsewhere, a 40-year-old man was stabbed and killed in an altercation in Nkiine, Meru county.
Police said Euticus Mugambi was stabbed in the neck and killed in the drama on Sunday night.
It is not yet clear what prompted the altercation between the assailant and the deceased, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary pending autopsy.
The assailant was later arrested from his home in the Mangaya area, police said.
In Holo, Kisumu county, a suspect who assaulted a man in a fight was lynched by a mob in an incident.
The suspect was beaten to death before police were called to the scene.
In Funyula, Busia county, one Joseph Bahati, 40, was found dead on the roadside.
The body was found on the Suongo-Burudu road, police said, adding it had a head injury inflicted by a blunt object.
Police said they are investigating the murder as they moved the body to the mortuary pending autopsy.
Elsewhere in Makongeni, Nairobi, one Anthony Oluoch, 42, was found dead in his house.
Police said the lifeless body of the man was found on the bed long after he had died.
The body with no visible injuries was moved to Chiromo Funeral Home, awaiting autopsy.
In the Utalii area, Nairobi, one Alex Mwaura Kamau, 26, was found dead in a ditch.
Police said the body had no visible injuries at the time of the discovery, but his right hand was bandaged.
The body was moved to the City morgue for preservation, awaiting autopsy.
In Nandi Hills, the body of Wilson Kipchumba, 48, was found on the roadside after a suspected sudden death.
Police said the body was moved to the Nandi Hills Subcounty hospital mortuary, awaiting autopsy.
In Kitengela, a child aged two months died at a children’s home.
The child had been rescued from the Machakos Law court after he was abandoned on May 17, 2025.
Police said they are investigating the death.
In Molo, Nakuru County, one Geoffrey Mwaniki Njenga, 44, was found lying lifeless on the floor in his rental house, with no visible injuries.
The body was moved to the Molo Subcounty hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.
In Ragumo, Kisumu county, a body was found on the roadside after a suspected murder.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.
