The Nairobi Expressway and Mombasa Road remained deserted on Monday as motorists chose to stay away due to fears of possible unrest and demonstrations as the country marked Saba Saba Day.
The normally busy route witnessed minimal traffic, with many residents opting to avoid travel amid heightened political tension linked to the nationwide protests.
Police also blocked several roads, further contributing to the disruption. The roadblocks affected travel plans, with many people unable to get to work.
Speaking on Monday, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Gilbert Masengeli urged citizens to respect the rule of law and conduct any demonstrations peacefully
