As the Saba Saba protests intensify, youths in Ngurubani town, Kirinyaga County, have lit bonfires, disrupting normal activities, including transport.

The action is part of a broader movement by youths to honour the original Saba Saba protests of 1990, which were pivotal in Kenya’s fight for multiparty democracy.

According to the youths, the bonfires pay tribute to those who lost their lives during recent demonstrations against government policies, including the controversial Finance Bill.
