
A family is mourning after their ten-year-old girl died after a perimeter wall collapsed on her as she was playing next to it in Mukaro area, Nyeri County.
Police said the wall
collapsed in Kiawara slums on July 1 and landed on two young girls as they
played next to it.
They were rushed to
the hospital, where the elder one succumbed to the injuries while being attended to.
The second girl, aged four, was admitted in serious condition, police said.
The mother of the
children was not present at the time of the incident. Police said as they moved
the body to the mortuary pending autopsy.
An investigation into the
incident is ongoing, police said.
Elsewhere in the Langas area, in the Eldoret area, one Sila Kipkemei Maiyo was hit and killed at a drinking den after
a fight.
This followed a
misunderstanding between the deceased and a woman who beat him up.
Police said they are
looking for the woman for grilling and possible arraignment.
The body was taken to a
local mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations, police said.
Meanwhile, a man was
killed in a confrontation in a bar in Kamagambo, Migori County.
Police said Gregory
Odhiambo, 24, was stabbed in the ribs and died from bleeding.
This followed a
confrontation at the joint with a reveller known to him.
A sword believed to be
the murder weapon was recovered at the scene.
The suspected assailant
was found hiding in a nearby butchery hours later.
He was scheduled to be
arraigned for murder.

mortuary pending an autopsy, police said of the July 1 incident.
In Muranga South, Muranga
County, one Stephen Nganga Njoroge, 68, who stayed alone, was found lying
dead on his bed at Githuya village.
Police said the
decomposed body was moved to Muranga Level Five Hospital mortuary, awaiting
postmortem.
The cause of the death was not immediately known.
Meanwhile, an autopsy on
the body of a man who died under mysterious circumstances on July 27 in Nyeri showed
the cause of death to be a massive intracranial haemorrhage secondary to severe
head injury caused by blunt force trauma to the head.
There was drama at the
PGH mortuary when an attendant alleged that she had collected a bullet on the floor a few meters from the operating table.
It is believed to have
been dropped by one of the deceased relatives with an ill intention to alter
the results of the autopsy, police said.
The police are
investigating the incident, and several witnesses have recorded statements.
The Independent Policing Oversight Authority was called to investigate the death of the man amid claims that police killed him.
Police
deny any role in the incident.
