Detectives are investigating a murder case after the body of a man who had been missing was found floating in a river in Muyafwa, Busia County.

The body of Richard Kutto Kipkemboi, 56, was found on June 29 in Museverende River long after he had been reported missing.

Police said the body had documents showing he came from the Kamariny area in Elgeyo Marakwet County.

The body had visible signs of strangling around the neck. The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.

Police believe the man was killed elsewhere and the body dumped at the river.

According to police, this was among eight murder cases reported on Sunday, June 29 alone.

Cases of murder are on the rise in the country, police say.

Most of the cases remain unsolved as police struggle to address the trend.

In Navakholo, Kakamega County, a woman identified as Bradette Wesonga, 49, was stabbed and killed as she tried to stop a fight between two men over a woman.

She was stabbed in the neck and rushed to a local hospital, where she was declared dead.

The assailant escaped the scene before he surrendered to the local police station later on.

Elsewhere in Kamagambo, Migori County, the body of a man aged 31 was found on a farm after a suspected murder.

The body of Billy Ochieng was found lying in a pool of blood after he was murdered at his father’s farm.

Police said it had deep cut wounds in the head, hands and bruises in the back.

The scene was disturbed, suggesting there was a struggle between the deceased and the killers.

Police said the deceased was last seen in the area on the evening of June 28, and the motive of the murder is yet to be established.

The body was taken to a local mortuary pending autopsy.

In Kasolongo, Machakos County, the body of a man was found in a thicket after a suspected murder.

The body had multiple injuries in the neck when it was discovered on Sunday, June 29.

The motive of the murder is yet to be established, and the body was moved to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy.

In Nguutani, Kitui County, a woman identified as Kakundi Kalusi, 48, was found lying dead beside the road at Kavaini area, along Garissa-Kanyonyoo Road.

Police said the body had visible injuries on the lower limbs and the face.

The motive of the murder was not immediately established, and the body was moved to the mortuary pending investigations. Three suspects were later arrested in connection with the murder, police said.

In Ukwala, Siaya County, the body of a woman was found on a farm after a suspected murder.

Police said the naked body of Sally Odhiambo, 37, was found on the farm with deep cut wounds to the head.

She had been called by a person she knew on Saturday evening and walked out of the house. She did not return until the time the body was found in a cassava plantation.

The suspect linked to the murder later surrendered to the local police station pending interrogation and investigations.

Elsewhere in Rhonda, Nakuru County, a fight between a couple turned tragic when the man died from stabbing.

The couple had differed over domestic issues before the woman picked a kitchen knife and stabbed the deceased man, identified as Victor Langat, in the pelvis.

Langat bled to death following the stabbing, police said.

The woman was later arrested pending investigations into murder, police added.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.
