
The body of a woman
who went missing was found floating on River Nzoia after a suspected murder in a
village in Busia County.
Police claimed Dorothy
Vukanga, 47, went missing on June 19 after a domestic quarrel.
She vanished before
her body was discovered floating on River Nzoia in Siginga area the following
day.
Police who attended
the scene said the body had a deep cut on the head and bruises on the back and
hands.
The body was moved
to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.
Police said they are
investigating murder in the saga.
Elsewhere, police
are investigating five murder incidents reported on Sunday, June 22, separately
in the country.
The first incident was
reported in Kiugoine, Nakuru where a juvenile was found unconscious
outside a church before she succumbed to the injuries.
The deceased girl, aged about three years, was strangled outside the church.
Police said CCTV footage from neighboring homes was reviewed and revealed that the perpetrator, a woman, had lured the victim from the church to the scene, where she strangled her.
Police said a 17-year-old
was later arrested in Judea Village, Menengai Sublocation over the incident.
The police team also
recovered the clothes the suspect wore during the commission of the offence as
well as the piece of cloth used to commit the heinous act.
The motive of the murder was not immediately established.
The girl was expected in court on
Monday, where police said they would make a miscellaneous application to hold her
as they investigate the murder.
In Mutuati, Meru
County, one Daniel Kailikya, 53, was stabbed and killed by an assailant during
an altercation.
Police said the assailant escaped the scene soon after the murder.
In Mumbuni, Machakos
County, one Peter Musembi, 60, was found murdered and his body abandoned on a
footpath.
A bloodstained stone was found at the scene where the body lay, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary.
In Chango, Vihiga
County, a worker at a local hospital identified as Fred Obiri, 27 was attacked
and killed in a robbery.
The victim was
walking home when the incident happened, police said.
The suspects robbed
him of his wallet with an unknown amount of money and a mobile phone before escaping
and injuring him in the head.
The deceased worked
as a physiotherapist at Mungoma Hospital, police said.
In Katito, Kisumu
County, one Jacob Odhiambo, 32, died in an altercation over Sh10 at a changaa
den.
A woman suspected to
have stabbed him in the chest, leaving him with fatal injuries, was arrested,
police said.
Police said the
bodies of the victims were moved to mortuaries pending autopsies and
investigations.
