President William Ruto attended an official dinner hosted by Spain’s King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia in Seville, as part of his ongoing visit to the European nation.
The dinner brought together several world leaders and marked a key moment in strengthening Kenya–Spain relations. President Ruto said the visit aims to deepen bilateral ties and identify areas of cooperation between the two countries.
“We value our longstanding diplomatic ties with Spain. We are exploring areas of cooperation to unlock new opportunities for the mutual benefit of our nations and peoples,” President Ruto stated.
The president’s tour is expected to focus on advancing economic and diplomatic partnerships, building on existing engagements between the two governments.
Ruto’s visit to Spain follows a previous official trip by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to Nairobi on October 26, 2022. That visit laid the groundwork for expanded cooperation in trade, investment, and development.
The current discussions are expected to focus on strategic sectors, including renewable energy, agriculture, tourism, and infrastructure, in efforts to foster sustainable growth and shared prosperity.
President Ruto is scheduled to hold a series of high-level meetings during his stay in Spain to solidify economic ties and attract Spanish investment into Kenya.
