Deputy President Kithure Kindiki on Monday hosted Members of County Assemblies (MCAs) from Kitui, Machakos and Makueni counties at the official Residence in Karen, Nairobi.
Kindiki said he will work closely with MCAs to ensure development projects are hastened in their Wards for the benefit of the people.
The DP said MCAs play a big role in the implementation of development initiatives that have a bigger impact in society, as they are more familiar with the people’s needs.
He assured them of his tireless efforts to address their requests.
“As Deputy President of Kenya, I will not let you down. MCAs from Ukambani and all over Kenya, you can count on me to support you and your people to get maximum benefits from this government,” Kindiki stated.

He said the development of Ukambani region is at the centre of the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which targets the stimulation of local economies.
Already, the government has revived key roads in the region that had stalled for years, on top of initiating new ones aimed at opening up and easing the movement of people and farm produce, rolling out electricity and water projects in the region and constructing dozens of modern markets in the region.
“Ukambani is part of Kenya, and we will develop it. We will fulfil all the promises we have made to the people,” he added.

The Deputy President, who has been to the three counties for empowerment engagements targeting youth, women and small-scale traders, promised to return to the region soon for more development initiatives.
He encouraged the leaders not to shy away from asking for development, saying the region deserves an equitable share of projects like any other.
“Useless things like where and who you voted for are behind us, right now it is about serving the people. Anything else will come later, but we are focused on making the lives of the people better,” he indicated.
