A Nairobi court will today convene to issue further directions in the ongoing murder case of slain Kasipul MP George Ong'odo Were.

This is amid rising concerns over courtroom safety following a chilling incident involving one of the accused.

The third accused, Calo Ochieng, among the  three suspects linked to the murder case is alleged to have threatened the state prosecutor during the court session.

He reportedly uttered the words “Huyu tutamuua” (We shall kill him) shortly before Justice Diana Kavedza was set to deliver a bail ruling during a court recess.

The judge termed the remarks a direct threat not only to the prosecutor but also to potential witnesses, denying all three accused persons bail.

She further directed that Ochieng be remanded in solitary custody at Nairobi Remand Prison pending a mental fitness report.

The other two suspects who were in court with him were also denied bail and remanded pending further court directives.

The matter returns to court today where a mental assessment report will be presented before court and further directions will be given.

Elsewhere, three suspects linked to the alleged abduction of Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi are set to appear before a Milimani Law Court today as investigations into the incident continue.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations had earlier sought permission from the court to detain the trio for 15 days to allow for further probe.

The prosecution told the court that Koimburi was reportedly abducted from Full Gospel Ebenezer Church in Mugutha by the three respondents, and his official statement was yet to be recorded.

The DCI argued that releasing the suspects prematurely could compromise the integrity of the investigation, which has stirred public anxiety, political tension, and concerns over national stability.

In a separate order, Senior Principal Magistrate Robin Ondieki granted detectives access to the MP’s medical records from The Karen Hospital and Plainsview Hospital in Ruiru to verify claims that he was tortured during the alleged abductionIn courts: Judge to issue directions on three suspects in Kasipul MP murder case
