The court has set July 22, 2025, as the hearing date for the case involving the alleged impersonation of President William Ruto's daughter, Charlene Ruto.

The pre-trial mention is scheduled for July 8, 2025, to give further directions on the matter.

The accused, Webster Ocharo Elijah, was arraigned on June 3, 2025, and charged with impersonation contrary to Section 382(1) of the penal code.

He is accused of allegedly falsely presenting himself as Charlene Ruto in a fraudulent book publication.

According to the court documents, Ocharo, acting alone or with others operating under the name Zawadi Publishers, authored and circulated a book titled "Beyond the Name Charlene Ruto and Youth Uprising," attributing it to Charlene Ruto.

His counsel had earlier, when the accused first appeared in court, told the court that he is a student and a creative and meant no harm.

Charlene Ruto is listed as both the complainant and a key witness in the case.

The accused is currently out of police custody on a Sh50000 cash bail and is expected to appear in court on July 8, 2025, for pre-trial directions.
