
The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a weather outlook for the week warning of widespread rainfall, strong winds, scorching daytime heat in some regions, and chilly nights in others.
According to a notice, the weatherman said rainfall is expected over several regions, including the Central Highlands, Lake Victoria basin, Rift Valley, Coast, Western Kenya.
This also includes parts of the South-eastern Lowlands and Northwestern Kenya.
The rains are expected to bring relief to farmers but could also cause localised flooding in low-lying areas.
In contrast, scorching daytime temperatures exceeding 30°C are anticipated across much of northeastern and northwestern Kenya.
“Average daytime temperatures above 30°C are expected in much of northeastern and northwestern Kenya,” it said.
Nighttime, however, will tell a different story in other parts of the country.
The department has also warned of chilly nights, with average temperatures dropping below 10°C in parts of the Central Highlands, Central Rift Valley, and areas around Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Additionally, a strong winds advisory has been issued.
“Southerly to south-easterly winds exceeding 25 knots (12.86 m/s) are expected over the coast and Kenya’s territorial waters, southeastern lowlands, North-eastern and northwestern Kenya.”
The weatherman also advised the public to monitor daily forecasts and stay alert to any changes.
The forecast runs until June 23.
