The case against Brian Mwenda came up for mention on Friday, June 13, 2025, before Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina at the Milimani Magistrates Court.
In the absence of the accused, the court directed that the hearing would proceed on July 3 and July 7, 2025.
Mwenda is facing charges including forgery and identity theft, related to allegations that he posed as a licensed advocate around October 18, 2023.
He is further alleged to have represented clients in court.
Mwenda has denied the charges of making a false document, uttering a false document, and identity theft.
He also reportedly claimed to have won 26 cases.
These claims have been met with scepticism from legal professionals and authorities.
The matter had earlier been adjourned on May 22, 2025, after his lawyer, Counsel Njeru, fell ill, prompting the court to suspend proceedings.
Chief Magistrate Onyina ruled that the case could not proceed without the presence of Mwenda’s lawyer.
“The matter cannot proceed without the accused’s counsel; hence, we will push it to further dates,” Onyina stated.
The case has drawn public interest due to the nature of the allegations and the unusual circumstances surrounding the matter.
