
A 34-year-old man is receiving specialised treatment at Coast General Referral Hospital following a violent attack in the Magutu area of Msambweni Sub-county.
The incident was reported at Diani Police Station on June 9, 2025, at 6:30 pm by his wife, Irene Awour Okoth.
According to the report, the victim, Chrispus Ombaso, left home on June 4, 2025, at around 6:00 am on a motorcycle while taking their nine-year-old daughter to school.
At about 7:00 am, Irene received a call from neighbours informing her that her husband had been attacked along the road in Magutu area, approximately 13 kilometres west of the station.
She was told that Ombaso was lying unconscious at the scene, bleeding heavily. He had sustained a deep cut on the head and another injury on his right hand.
The wife rushed to the scene and took him to Msambweni Referral Hospital.
He was later transferred to Coast General Referral Hospital in critical condition, where he remains admitted and under specialised treatment.
The scene was visited by police officers. The victim's motorcycle, which he had reportedly left at a petrol station due to lack of fuel, was recovered.
The motive behind the attack is yet to be established. The case is pending under investigation. The Station Police Commander (STAPOL) at Diani is handling the matter.
