
Police in Mathioya, Murang’a County, are investigating an incident where a man was found dead in a borehole after suspected drowning.
The
victim was identified as Peter Gacheru Gichohi, 38, and he is believed to
have drowned in a borehole at their home in Mbari ya Ireri village.
The
body was retrieved by members of the public and later taken to a local mortuary
pending autopsy and investigations.
Police
said they are investigating how he died after the June 4 incident.
Elsewhere,
a Swiss national collapsed and died in her residential house in Diani, Kwale
County.
Police
said Grossen Adelheid, a 76-year-old, passed on in her room in their rental home in the Watatu Watano area within Diani.
Preliminary
findings linked the death to cardiopulmonary arrest.
The
woman was in the company of a man who claimed to be his boyfriend at the time
of the incident on Wednesday, June 4.
A
doctor visited the home and confirmed the death before the body was moved to
the mortuary.
Meanwhile, police in
Kwanza, Trans Nzoia County, are investigating the murder of a man whose body was
found burned in his house.
The incident happened in
Kapkoi village, police said.
It was established that
John Masinde, 63, was murdered in his house and his body set on fire.
Police said the motive of
the incident is yet to be known.
Three bags of fertiliser,
a solar battery and an inverter were found a few metres from the house, police
said.
The deceased lived alone
at the time of the incident.
The body was moved to the
mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.
Police said no arrest has
been made so far.
Elsewhere,
a 65-year-old man died by suicide in a tree in Kianjokoma, Embu County.
The
deceased was identified as Joseph Nyaga, and his body was found hanging on a
macadamia tree after the mission.
The
motive of the incident was not known.
This
was among four cases of suicide reported to police on Wednesday.
The
other cases were reported in Nyamira, Bomet and Nyeri Counties.
Police
said they are investigating the cases.
Police say the trend has been worrying and increasing, with up to two cases reported daily.
